Year 1 program

Fundamental concepts in Optics and Nanosciences

The objective of the first year of the Master "Physics for Optics and Nanosciences" is to provide students with a solid background in general physics to give them the best preparation for a specialization in Optics or Nanosciences.

This year is composed of :

A 7-month period from September to March

A period with core courses in Physics and electives in optics and nanosciences. Students are also involved in practical training and carry out experimental projects.

Core courses available: Statistical Physics - Electrodynamics - Quantum Physics - Atomic & Molecular Physics, Quantum Optics : Lasers

Electives available: Nanophotonics - Materials - Nanomaterials and Electronics - Optoelectronics - Semiconductor & Laser Diodes - Wave Optics - Lasers - Nonlinear Optics - Guided and Coupled Waves - Biology - Microfluidics.

A 4-month internship from April to July

A period in an academic laboratory at Ecole Polytechnique, at a partner academic institution or in a Research & Development Center in a company.
